Spring in NYC

I walked around the Great Lawn in Central Park over the weekend and the colors of the trees against the brilliant blue sky were stunning. Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in the park. There is no need to travel to Washington D.C. or Japan when such beauty is down the street!

Red Rose

The inspiration for this piece came from the beautiful rose my husband gave me for Valentine's Day. After a few days, we changed the water and the rose subsequently drooped over. I thought it was finished, but after a weekend spent soaking up lots of sun, the rose bounced back to life and I enjoyed it for another week.

Northern Central Park

This is a collage of northern Central Park. From an aerial view, the park looks like a green blanket of trees sandwiched between the high rise buildings on the Upper East and West sides. I used gouache-painted paper to create this piece.

Central Park Treetops

This is another collage I created with tissue paper. It depicts the treetops in Central Park on a summer day. I like to create pieces that examine familiar objects from new perspectives. When viewed from above, the trees in Central Park look like gently rolling green waves that bring tranquility to the bustling city.
