Central Park in Spring

It's easy to forget that it is still spring when we have temperatures soaring into the 90s! This is one of my favorite views of the park, especially in the spring.

This unseasonably warm weather is making me think of summer ... and the luscious fruits that accompany the season! Strawberries are always a favorite with their bright, red color.

Cherry Blossom Branch

While the cherry blossoms are no longer in bloom in New York City, I am still experimenting with different compositions to capture their fresh, delicate color and grace. Walking through a grove of cherry trees in Central Park the other weekend, I stopped and looked up at the clear, blue sky, framed with branches of cherry blossoms. It was hard to believe that I was standing in one of the largest, busiest cities in the world!

I'm really enjoying creating this series of gerbera daisy pieces. They are such sunny, bright flowers!

Cherry Blossoms

While the cherry blossoms in the park are beginning to fade now, their delicate, graceful petals are still alive in my imagination. As the petals fall, they swirl to the ground and create a pink, velvety carpet.
