Amaryllis

I have a beautiful amaryllis growing at home. For the past several years, I've tried to grow amaryllis every winter without much success. This year, my mother gave me a bulb that has amazed us all. I really can't take credit for its success; my husband has tended it daily with his "green thumb". There are two bulbs growing; one has already burst open with four enormous bright, red flowers and a second bulb is quickly shooting up. This is a watercolor sketch of one of the flowers. I'll have more amaryllis pieces to share soon!

Gerbera Daisy

This weekend, I walked through the Shakespeare Garden in Central Park which is already abloom with flowers. It was a bit cool the day I visited, and the tulips were all closed, I imagine to stay warm. It was beautiful to see so many colorful flowers. While I did not see any gerbera daisies in the garden, they were on my mind as I passed by poppies, bleeding hearts and other spring flowers.

George Washington Bridge at Night

I saw the George Washington Bridge from Riverside Drive last week in the evening. The bridge has a majestic presence, gracefully spanning the Hudson River. With the NYC at Night series on my mind, I envisioned the bridge set against a glowing moon with beautiful flowers growing on both banks of the river. Here is the result of that vision!
