Umbrellas

New York City was hit hard with a snowstorm a few days ago. It started with rain and the largest snowflakes I have ever seen! Colorful umbrellas livened up an otherwise dreary scene!

Winter Pineapple

This weekend, I bought a pineapple. I relished the thought of enjoying tropical pineapple in the middle of a cold, snowy winter. I enjoyed interpreting the texture and patterns on the surface of this fruit. I hope you'll enjoy this piece!

Dinnertime

I created this collage with gouache-painted paper. Now that the sun sets later in the evening, I have enjoyed preparing dinner while watching the sun set. I think that this meal looks appetizing!

Preparing Dinner

Preparing dinner with dramatic views of the city in the background is inspiring! I created this collage with gouache-painted paper.

Morning Snow

We received another snowfall in New York City. In the morning, the snow blanketed the roofs of apartment buildings, making the city look enchanted. I am working now on a series of collages that portray the city from inside apartments. In this piece, made of gouache-painted paper, I chose to depict the snowstorm looking out from the comfort of home, with a hot cup of tea and fresh fruit.

Snowy Day at Home

The best place to be on a snowy, stormy day is at home! Yesterday, New York City received nearly a foot of snow. After trekking through the icy sidewalks, I arrived home and embraced its warmth and comfort. Looking out the window at the swirling gusts of snow descending on the city, it felt like there was no better place to be in the world than home with a steamy, hot cup of tea!

Green NYC at Night III

This is part of my "Green NYC at Night" series. I am working to portray NYC as a beautiful, urban garden. There are many pockets of nature scattered throughout the five boroughs, from the large, well-known parks such as Central Park and Riverside Park to community gardens and plots of vegetables and flower patches in front yards. This makes NYC a special place and sets it apart from other major cities.

Great Hill in Winter

I enjoy a view of the Great Hill in Central Park from our window. Sadly, after the terrible storm this summer knocked down so many trees, I can now clearly see the landscape of the hill. The barren branches of the trees look as if they are dancing when the icy wind blows.

Fish

This is another piece in my animal cut-out series which I created with black construction and gouache-painted paper. It was time-consuming to create the scales, though worth the effort! I chose colors for the scales that reflect the ocean colors and the warm sun.
